Interspecific Communities – ERC International Meetings
International Meetings – Interspecific Communities Louvain-la-Neuve, October 11–12, 2023
For two days, researchers, PhD students, and invited guests gather in Louvain-la-Neuve to explore the relationships between humans and non-humans as part of the ERC Interspecific project. This international meeting offers a rich program of exchanges, collective discussions, and ethnographic experiments.
On October 11th, after an opening by Frédéric Laugrand (UCLouvain) and a presentation of the project, the first roundtable addresses anthropological approaches to plants through two collective works. The day continues with a small-group discussion on interspecific ethics with the project’s ethics committee.
On October 12th, participants will explore the living world at the L Museum and Lauzelle Woods with Cédric Byl (UCLouvain). The afternoon features a second roundtable dedicated to the ethnography of interspecific collectives. Researchers from Belgium, Africa, Asia, and North America will share their fieldwork experiences, methods, and questions.
Between sensory walks, debates around books, collective reflections, and convivial moments, these days foster exchanges on the shared worlds between humans and other living beings.
